I did find some "points of light" in the crowd, but they were few and far between.

I also subscribed to your feed as well! Keep on Rockin!

Re: AdTech Expo Hall – Big Business, Big Spending, Little Innovation

Scott - I'm glad I wasn't the only one that had that feeling! Great post and I agree with you wholeheartedly. Maybe it was my misunderstanding of the show, but I too was looking for innovation and inspiration. Instead I found out about a lot of companies that "Love non-US traffic." Good to know, I suppose, but far from inspirational.

Thanks for sharing with me and I'm subscribing to your RSS feed. I'm excited to hear more!

Re: AdTech Expo Hall – Big Business, Big Spending, Little Innovation

Jon was great to see you as well. Thanks for the comment...it is very appropriate. "ad:tech best represents the dark underbelly of the web marketing"

Re: AdTech Expo Hall – Big Business, Big Spending, Little Innovation

Thanks for the mention Scott and great bumping into you there!

Indeed I think you sum it up when you say that it has become a more a trade show and less a conference. I would say that might have even been a larger dichotomy in that regard at ad:tech SF (which in a strange way doesn't feel that long ago).

For me ad:tech best represents the dark underbelly of the web marketing. But maybe what we've learned this week from the Zynga and Facebook flap is that the dark underbelly may be the only belly where there is fat.
